Yesturday morning Me and my mum went to darenth hospital, i had a dentist consultation there at 11:30. While we were waiting to see the Dentist my mum was having migrains. The migrains were normal like any others, she took a pain killer.

After my dentist appointment my mum came up with a red rash, the rash started to blister and she looked very unwell. Because we were still at the hospital for my dentist consultation, we went to A&E (Acident and Emerguncy). We went to the desk and just asked to speak to someone and see a doctor. A Doctor consultant came round and took my mum to a office near the waiting room. I Started filling out forms for my mum at the counter and then i went to the office where my mum was.

As i turned the corner to the office i saw my mum collapse. She started shaking on the floor and her eyes went white. A small alarm went off and about nine doctors rushed to my mum. I Screamed for my mum but some doctors kept me back. They were injecting her with (Adrenline, a life saving drug that brings a person back to conciousness for a little while,) And other things. They lifted up my mum and rushed her away from me. Everyone in the waiting room just stared at me... I Thought my mum was dead.

I Followed the doctor and they led me outside a room called "Resucatation"- Its were they try and save someone when there on the brink of death.

I Couldnt go in but a doctor waited with me, it had been an hour and a doctor came out and told me that my mum may die if they dont do something soon, my heart sunk.... They told me that my mum had an Anaphylaxic Shock (I'll descirbe it in a minute)
and they need to know what she had taken lately, i showed them the pain killers my mum took and suddenly they went back in resucatiation.

A Few hours later i was able to see my mum, there was wires in her
oxygen masks on her. And tubes coming out of the vein in her hand.

My mum was unconscious and her blood pressure was very low. I Spoke with the doctor and they told me that she just needed to rest.

I Sat with my mum for hours upon hours, not leaving her side... Then she opened her eyes and she said " Wheres my shoe"
I Burst with tears and hugged her so much, she dident know where she was or what happened. she only remembered the point when she fell on the floor. I Spoke with her and told her everything, they took my mum to another ward right next to resucatation and they got her a drink. Her face was pure red and her blood pressure still wasnt fantastic, The doctors spoke to us and told her what she had suffered from and we needed to stay in the hospital till 8pm.

My mum slept through most of it, all of these wires and tubes made me feel sick. However as hours went on she was getting better and better. It was nearly 8pm and my mum was looking amazing, i cried so much that day. It was nearly time to go we had to wait for a doctor to send us off. My mum was told before we left that my mum was alergic to a certin Type of pill, obviously my mum dident know this untill today. However not many people themselves know if they are alergic. This type of alergy claims 100's of lives every day. My mum got lucky.


I now want to tell everyone, No matter how old you are, you may be alergic.

Pill's like painkillers are like any other pill, there job is to create anti-bodies to destroy and pain. However some people get side effects of these.

It all starts with a simple little Parecetomol
(The most common type of painkiller)
Your body creates antibodies to stop a ache of some sort. However some people also get a rash after they've taken a pill or they get itchy skin. Most people pass it off, like my mum people believe it is a small side effect. Your wrong. It is A Alergic reaction. The first time you take the pill you may get a small rash, the next time stomouch cramps the thrid time.... The Anaphylaxtic shock.

If you experience any of the following after taking some form of pill
do not just ignore it, Never take that pill again because you are alergic, and it will kill you.

* Swollen face, lips, and tongue and throat.
* Itching or a strange metallic taste in the mouth.
* Sore red and itchy eyes.
* Drop in blood pressure and narrowing of the airways.
* Wheezing and difficulty breathing and talking.
* Changes in heart rate.
* Sudden feeling of extreme anxiety or apprehension.
* Itchy skin or a nettle-rash (urticaria, hives).
* Faintness, collapse or unconsciousness due to very low blood pressure.
* Abdominal cramps, vomiting or diarrhoea.
* Swelling of an area larger than the sting site.
* Nausea and fever.

If you do experience any of these, treat it VERY Seriously, because your body will not last.




Anaphylactic shock -

Anaphylaxis (also known as anaphylactic shock) is a severe, potentially fatal allergic reaction. Anaphylaxis is your body's immune system reacting badly to the presence of a foreign object (e.g. food or a substance) it wrongly perceives as a threat. Your whole body is affected, usually within minutes of contact with an allergen but sometimes, the reaction can take place hours later. There is a sudden drop in blood pressure and narrowing of the airways.

Anaphylaxis can be triggered by a very wide range of foods and other agents. The most common include peanuts, nuts, sesame seeds, fish, shellfish, dairy products, eggs and strawberries. Anaphylaxis can also be caused by an allergic reaction to wasp or bee stings, natural latex (rubber) and certain drugs such as the antibiotic penicillin.


Anaphylactic shock occurs because your body's immune system over-reacts in response to an allergen you have been exposed to before, for example, eggs. Entry of the allergen into your blood stream provokes the release of massive amounts of histamine and other chemicals.

The blood vessels widen, leading to a sudden severe lowering of blood pressure and constriction of the airways in the lungs.



Please Remember - This is a very nasty killer. It kills people without them even knowing they were alergic to it.



For my mum i will raise awareness of this. And i will save peoples lives
